Author Guidelines

GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

The submission, evaluation and eventual publication of the texts are free of charge.
Texts via e-mail or via any other means of communication out of the Journal online system will not be received in any hypothesis.

Articles, comments, opinions, and reviews may be submitted. Interviews and translations are of exclusive initiative of the editorial board and therefore are not open to submission, except on request.

As part of the submission process, the texts must follow the formal guidelines outlined below, as well as the specific guidelines for the type of work submitted.

— GENERAL FORMATS SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

The contribution must be original and unpublished, and must not have been submitted for publication in any other journal; if the text is extracted from a dissertation or thesis previously defended, or a translation of previous article in another language or a work submitted before to annals of scientific congress, it must be justified in "comments to the editor".

The author's contribution should be free of plagiarism and self-plagiarism and be in accordance with all guidelines and the codes of good scientific practices. The submitted text files must be anonymous. All direct or indirect indications of authorship should be withdrawn so as not to compromise blind peer evaluation.

The files must be submitted in DOC, DOCX, RTF format, named according to the title of the job (title. DOC, title. DOCX or title. RTF), with supression of any information about authors including in the hidden properties of the digital files.

We recomend the texts to be written on page A4, in the vertical position, with left and upper margin of 3 cm; Right and bottom of 2 cm, so to allow evaluation of standards.

Font: Times New Roman font, size 12, spacing 1.5, simple space between paragraphs.

For citations of more than three lines, footnotes, paging, captions of illustrations and tables, paragraphs must be opened and the font size is 10 with simple space between lines and paragraphs.

Titles must be typed in size 14, bold. Sub-items in normal size (12) uppercase and not bold. Other sub-line-items in normal text.

The paragraphs of all text sizes must be justified.

Page numbers, footnotes, legends of illustrations and table texts must be typed in size 10 and in simple space.

The text must follow the Council of Science Editors (CSE) citation style, especially regarding citations and bibliographic references. URLs and DOI must be informed when possible. For any other specific references, citations, references and footnotes, one should follow The Blue Book - A Uniform System of Citation (20th ed. 2015).

Authors should perform the orthographic and grammatical revision of their own texts. Numerous or serious wrongs justify rejection of the work.

Authors must register on the ORCID platform and indicate the ID. For Brazilian authors, it is also necessary to indicate the registration in the LATTES platform.

The Journal does not evaluate or publish more than one text of the same author in the same number or texts of the same author in subsequent numbers. This limitation applies to all sections of the Journal, to all modalities of text and includes co-authorship and last for three Journal volumes.

The authors acknowledge the evaluation criteria for publication and for chronological order and precedence for publication.

The authors acknowledge the editorial duties and ethics.

— SPECIFIC FORMAL SUBMISSION RULES BY SECTION

Book reviews, commentaries or opinions must be exclusively accepted in Portuguese, except in case of translations, under DESC board approval.

The articles should contain title, abstract and three keywords in your writing language and in portuguese.

The title should be brief and clearly reflect the theme of the text and its delimitation.

The abstract should contain up to 200 words.

All works may have a maximum of 3 authors. In the case of research groups or participation in works of an empirical nature, the collaborations should be indicated in footnotes.

In order to avoid distortions, organograms, charts and diagrams should be inserted as images attached to the main text in original position.

The texts should contain, at the end, a complete list of bibliographic references, written in accordance with the orientations above and ordered alphabetically by the author's surname.
Portuguese writers must observe specific rules of text formats in portuguese version of this site.

—  BRAZILIAN CNPQ ETHIC GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

Check below the basic guidelines for integrity in scientific activity according to Brazilian agencies:

1. The author must always give credit to all the sources that support his work directly.
2. All quotes in verbis from another author must be cited in quotation marks.
3. When summarizing a text from others, the author should seek to reproduce the exact meaning of the ideas or facts presented by the original author, who should be given credits.
4. When in doubt whether a concept or fact is of common opinion, one should not fail to make the appropriate quotations.
5. When submitting a manuscript for publication containing information, conclusions or data that have already been disseminated in a meaningful way (e.g. presented in a conference, published on the Internet), the author must clearly indicate to the editors and readers the existence of the prior disclosure of the information.
6. If the results of a single complex study can be presented as a cohesive whole, it is not considered ethical to fragment them into several manuscripts.
7. In order to avoid any characterization of self-plagiarism, the use of texts and previous works of the own author must be indicated, with the appropriate references and citations.
8. The author must make sure that each quotation is correct and that each quotation in the final bibliography corresponds to a quotation in the text of the manuscript. The author must also give credit to the authors who first reported the observation or idea that is being presented.
9. When describing the work of others, the author should not rely on a secondary summary of this work, which may lead to a failing description of the work cited. Whenever possible consult the original literature.
10. If an author needs to cite a secondary source (e.g. a review) to describe the content of a primary source (e.g., an empirical article in a journal), one must make sure of its correctness and always indicate the original source of the information being reported.
11. The intentional inclusion of references of questionable relevance for the purpose of manipulating impact factors or increasing the probability of accepting the manuscript is ethically unacceptable.
12. When it is necessary to use information from another source, the author must write in such a way that makes clear to the readers which ideas are authentic and which come from the other sources.
13. The author has an ethical responsibility to report evidence that contradicts his or her point of view, if any. In addition, the evidence used to support their positions must be methodologically solid. When it is necessary to rely on studies that present methodological, statistical or other deficiencies, such flaws should be clearly pointed out to the readers.
14. The author has an ethical obligation to report all aspects of the study that may be relevant to the independent verification of his or her research.
15. Any change in the initial results obtained, such as the discrepancies elimination or the use of alternative statistical methods should be clearly described with rational justification for the use of such procedures.
16. The inclusion of authors in the manuscript should be discussed before starting the collaboration and should be based on already established guidelines, such as those of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors.
17. Only people who have made significant contributions to the work deserve authorship in a manuscript. By significant contribution one must understand conducting experiments, participating in the elaboration of experimental planning, analyzing the results or elaboration of the body of the manuscript. Borrowed equipment, financed projects or general supervision alone do not justify the inclusion of new authors, which should be cited in acknowledgement.
18. Collaboration between teachers and students should follow the same criteria. Supervisors should ensure that students with little or no contribution are not included in the authorship nor exclude those who have actually participated in the work. Phantom authorship in Science is ethically unacceptable.
19. All authors of a paper are responsible for the veracity and suitability of the work, which means that the first author and the correspondent author have full liability, and the other authors only partial liability according to the extent of their individual contributions.
20. Authors should be able to describe, when requested, their personal contribution to the work.
